Acoustix Hearing Ltd - So much more than a hearing clinic

ACC

Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC) is a government compensation scheme which provides funding to New Zealanders and New Zealand residents who have acquired a hearing loss through:
  • Long term exposure to noise through their occupation and work environment
  • Exposure to loud level impulse noise eg an explosion
  • Physical trauma to their hearing through an accident
If evident and approved, ACC will determine their level of contribution towards the cost for hearing aids, required accessories, batteries, maintenance and repairs.

Lodging a claim with ACC:
  • A claim form must be completed by your GP and forwarded to ACC.
  • ACC then issues a claim number to the claimant and arranges for an ENT appointment (Ear, Nose & Throat specialist) for a medical opinion which may include a further audiological assessment.
  • The necessary reports are completed by the ENT specialist and Audiologist and forwarded to ACC.
  • After ACC assesses the claim and the reports, a decision is made, and the claimant is notified of the outcome.
  • If the claim is accepted, ACC sends information and forms to be completed by the claimant. These forms detail the claimant’s entitlements and ask for a preference of Audiologist or hearing clinic.
  • It should be noted that at times legislation can change, so do call ACC on 0800 101 996 if you require further information.
