Recycle Product More Efficiently With The Zecante DL500 De Labeller

Wed 31 Mar 2010

This machine was specifically developed for use with straight-sided bottles in the wine industry, but it appears that there may be a wider market covering glass jars and beer bottles.
With the introduction of self-adhesive labels, a major problem has arisen in the removal of these labels and glue to allow product to be reworked.
John Vazey, who has worked in the wine industry for many years, saw an opportunity to develop a machine to carry out this operation.
Until recently the bottles were immersed in liquid for long periods to assist with label removal, being carried out manually using knife blades. This being a potentially dangerous practice, taking from 5 to 16 minutes per bottle.
The Zecante De Labeller can carry out this operation at a rate of 5 to 6 bottles per minute.
John’s design has used a similar operation to that of applying labels incorporating a foot plate/ pedestal, to locate the bottle and plunger to hold the top of the bottle in line. A simplistic design with safety in mind was a major part of John’s thinking when designing the machine.
Single-phase power and a water connection is all that is required to operate the machine, although machines that have been sold in Australia have incorporated air to reduce water consumption.
The labels when removed from the bottles are collected at the back of the machine and if necessary the water can also be collected for recycling. The patent for this machine has now been granted and vindicates the many hours and vision John saw in the development.
Maud Kirk worked closely with John on this project supplying technical expertise, products; Rexnord / Marbett components, Siti gearboxes and motors.
Worldwide distribution is carried out by Maud Kirk and any enquiries should be directed to the company with additional information readily available from the web site. www.maudkirk.co.nz and email: sales@maudkirk.co.nz .
