Disabled workers attacked at work

People with a disability or long-term illness are twice as likely to experience physical violence at work compared to others, according to research published by Britain’s Equality and Human Rights Commission. The study of 400 workers found 12% of people with a disability of long-term illness are likely to experience physical violence at work, compared to 5% of those with no such disability or illness. They were also more likely to have been injured by work violence or aggression (9%) compared to others (5%), as well as being subjected to persistent unfair criticism (13%) more often than colleagues with no disability or long-term illness (13%).
