Job Strategy for Learning Disabilities
A strategy to radically increase the number of people with moderate and severe learning disabilities in employment by 2025, has been launched by the British Government. More jobs of at least 16 hours per week are to be made available to close the employment gaps between those with learning disabilities and that of disabled people generally.
The learning Disability Employment strategy is a cross-government initiative and will:
• Promote the fact that people with learning disabilities can work and have careers
• Offer 400 employment opportunities across the department for Work and Pensions
• Increase the number of National Health Service jobs
• Issue all government departments recruitment guidance
• Recruit job coaches for people with learning disabilities.
