Description

Palmco Display Gardens are a development of a garden that has been in existence for 12 years with a strong emphasis on sub-tropicals, palms and cycads. Mature stands of Archontophoenix species, Syagrus romanzoffiana and Washingtonia robusta create a place of calm with rich understory plantings including tropical tree ferns, gardenias, blue ginger, bold leaved ligularias and native groundcovers.The entrance to the garden is through an indoor tropical garden with a small pool and waterfall and many Mexican chamaedorea, philodendron and rhoeo species, staghorn ferns, vanda orchids and exotic climbers. An impressive Kauri sculpture guards the pathway leading to the display garden beyond. Palms line the walkway leading to a large circular lawn overlooking a pond with view shafts through to gardens beyond.Pathways meander through to features such as a petanque court, a firepit for evening events, a landing overlooking a dry riverbed and other secluded spots. Lighting allows the garden to be used during the evenings for tours or special events.This garden is rich in tropical and subtropical plants providing an oasis in northland only 4 kms from central Kerikeri.
