Iwi Collective Partnership

Sanford Limited and Iwi Collective Partnership Agreement.

Sanford has an agreement with the Iwi Collective Partnership (ICP) in which currently 12 North Island Iwi who have pooled their annual catch entitlement (ACE). Sanford leases the ICP ACE for deep water species. Species include Hoki, Oreo Dory, Orange Roughy and Squid. These fish swim in waters deeper than 150m and are caught by large vessels which process and pack their daily catch onboard.

Sanford and ICP are committed to ensuring that both iwi whanau and Sanford shareholders benefit economically and socially from our agreement.



The Agreement is based on the principles of:

  • Makohakoha – high level of achievement through effective and efficient management practices and performance
  • Manaakitanga – hospitality, support for one another, honest and open communication
  • Kaitiakitanga / Sustainability – the safe and careful management of our resources
  • Whakaaronui – using our collective vision, creativity and innovativeness






Five key result areas have been chosen to measure the ongoing value of the Sanford-ICP Agreement and include growing the capacity and capability of both parties. Both the principles supporting our Agreement and the key result measures sit comfortably within the ICP kaupapa and the Sanford sustainability vision. For both Sanford and ICP it is important that the wairua of our agreement remains strong.
